We replaced an eight foot tall wooden fence that surrounded our new century home with a wrought iron fence. Between the new fence and the sidewalk we have a slope of two to six feet with a few railroad ties many weeds, tree roots, periwinkle and daylilies. It is about 60 feet in length down a steep hill.
We have whipper-snipped and hand pulled and pulled and pulled, but it is necessary to plant something so that the ground will not be eroded. While the periwinkle and daylillies can stay, we will be adding some sedum and thyme and assorted hardy perennials in the hopes that this can stay a low maintenance area while holding the ground. Wish us luck!
